Oct 3rd Travel Day   Budapest

Drove to Dublin at 8am and boarded a plane to Budapest via Amsterdam. I arrived in Budapest at 10pm and went for a small swim in the hotel Pool, then had some food and off to bed at about 1am.

Oct 4th race Day

I woke at 5am and got ready and went down to register at about 7am at the race park.

By the time I got my number and changed it was nearly time for the off at 10.30am. I ran well today as I was feeling good actually despite not much sleep and a crazy few days at work and I crossed the finish line in 3hr 17mins. Then quick swim and change and off to the airport for a flight home and arrived back home at about 12am.

I have to say I really enjoyed the Budapest marathon. It’s a lovely city, lovely marathon and there is plenty of entertainment going on all during the race and people cheering etc. The course is flat with just a few small hills as you run over the bridges.

You spend a lot of time running beside the waters edge which is always nice and the weather was hot, about 25 degrees. Lovely Hurling.

Next weekend Chicago.
