No 20 Belfast City Marathon
Date added : 13-Jul-2009

May 3rd Travel Day,

Drove to Belfast and registered and got settled into the hotel. It’s a while since I was in Belfast and I must admit I had forgotten how friendly the people in Belfast are.The registration for the race was a long way from town but when you arrive there it is in a beautiful park so it’s kind of worth the long trip.  May 4th Race Day, Got up good and early and got ready for the start that was at 9am at City Hall. It was a dull enough day but however at 9am off we went. The marathon travels through different parts of Belfast and after halfway we head out of town. It was a very windy day and at times the running was tough. At about mile 17 we go through a park and then it’s a very straight stretch of road all the way back into the city although we do run alongside the water and it’s quite nice. Next thing you know we head into the park to the finish line and the job is done.I’m not painting a great picture here but Belfast is a nice marathon not so much for the run but Belfast is just a great city with great people which makes this one to do.Short and sweet.
