Description :

You will come face to face with icebergs, penguins, seals and whales while exploring the most pristine corner of the planet. Historians and scientists will provide lectures on board ship and wildlife excursions during landings in remote areas among seal colonies and penguin rookeries and at research bases.

Departure from the U.S. is scheduled for early March with overnight flights to Buenos Aires for a three night stay in Argentina's capital. The deluxe Marriott Hotel will host our guests and the welcome reception and banquet.
Marathon Tours & Travel, the event organizer and exclusive tour operator, in conjunction with Quark Expeditions will provide the itinerary for runners and accompanying friends for this journey to the end of the Earth. The Akademik Ioffe and the Akademik Sergey Vavilov, will make the journey from Ushuaia through the Beagle Channel across Drake Passage and through the Shetland Islands and along the Antarctic Peninsula.

The course on King George Island located off the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula loops through the scientific research bases of Uruguay, Chile, China and Russia who provide water, medical assistance and supportive cheers. Great care is taken to leave behind zero impact on the environment in this sensitive ecosystem. We guarantee that you will experience a most challenging running experience.

The goal of many marathoners is to run a 26 mile race on all 7 continents. In the past, runners have represented many countries including Canada, U.S., Norway, Germany, Great Britain, Bermuda, Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Hungary, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Bermuda, Bahamas, Venezuela, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong, Russia, Japan and New Zealand.
